The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has clarified that Arik Air’s flight operations have not been suspended.
On June 30, the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) grounded some of Arik Air’s aircraft due to a $2.5 million debt to Atlas Petroleum International Ltd, following a federal high court order.
In a statement issued on Friday, the NCAA explained that the grounding of three Arik Air aircraft does not mean the airline’s overall operations are suspended, contrary to some reports.
“NCAA refers to the grounding of three Arik Air aircraft following a court order. It is important to clarify that this action does not include the suspension of Arik Air’s overall operations by either the NCAA or the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development,” the authority stated.
The NCAA emphasized its obligation to comply with the court order and to ensure regulatory and safety standards are met.
It reassured the public that Arik Air’s flight operations continue as scheduled and thanked them for their patience and understanding.
