Professor Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has dismissed claims of a conspiracy targeting any region of the country during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)
The clarification comes after technical glitches reportedly disrupted the UTME process, with complaints suggesting the South-East and Lagos were the most affected. Addressing the concerns, Oloyede emphasized that all candidates are Nigerians and are treated equally, insisting there was no deliberate effort to marginalize any group.
“There is no conspiracy theory against any part of the country. Every candidate is important to us,” he said.
In response to the disruptions, JAMB has scheduled a nationwide mop-up examination to accommodate students who were unable to write their exams due to the technical issues. The board expressed deep regret over the situation and reassured the public of its commitment to fairness, transparency, and improved processes.
Oloyede also reacted to calls for his resignation over the incident, stating that while the situation was unfortunate and emotionally taxing, he remains committed to leading the board through the challenges and ensuring the integrity of its examinations.
