Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has said that efforts are ongoing to secure the release of students and teachers a.bducted in Oyo State
He added that security operations are being carefully managed due to the nature of the terrain where they are believed to be held.
He explained that the victims are still thought to be within the wider Old Oyo National Park axis, noting that the vast forest area has made the search and rescue operation more demanding and requires coordination and patience.
Makinde also spoke directly to families affected by the incident, acknowledging their pain and assuring them that the state has not abandoned the effort to bring their loved ones home safely.
“We are doing everything within our power to bring the teachers and students home safely. We cannot share the details of what we are doing. One thing I can say is that our security reports indicate that they remain within the wider Old Oyo National Park axis. The size and terrain of the area require patience, coordination and persistence.
”To the parents, relatives, friends and colleagues of those still in captivity: I know that no statement can ease your pain but please know that your loved ones have not been forgotten”, he stated.
