A first-class traditional ruler in Plateau State, the
Long-Gomia of Shendam, Hubert Shaidas, is dead. Mr. Shaidas, one of the longest
serving paramount rulers in Plateau State, died of kidney related disease in an
undisclosed hospital in Jos on Sunday.

According to sources, the ruler had been on dialysis and
life support machine for the past one year. He died aged 81 and was buried on
Monday in accordance with Gomai traditional rites.
