Residents of Tangaza and Tambuwal Local Government Areas in Sokoto State have reported what they claim were drone strikes on their communities, allegedly carried out by the United States military
According to an ARISE News correspondent, one of the incidents took place in Jabo District of Tambuwal, a community that residents say has not previously faced insecurity.
Locals described seeing an object resembling a small aircraft approaching the area, which caused widespread panic. One resident said they were seated when they noticed the object moving toward the community.

The impact reportedly created a large crater, with fire still burning at the site. Residents said no homes were hit and no injuries were reported. Metal fragments recovered from the scene were said to be handed over to local authorities for investigation.
In Tangaza Local Government Area, residents also confirmed attacks on locations believed to be hideouts of the Lakurawa group. A local government official, speaking anonymously, said the strikes occurred between 10 p.m. and midnight in Warriya and Alkasim villages.
He added that authorities had not yet assessed the full extent of the attacks, including whether there were civilian casualties. “Security operatives are expected to visit the affected areas in the morning to verify what happened,” he said.
However, multiple sources, including local authorities, reported that no airstrikes were recorded in the eastern part of Sokoto State, a region long affected by banditry. Efforts to reach DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, spokesperson for the Sokoto State Police Command, for comment were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
