Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has encouraged Nigerians to embrace small-scale businesses as a means of earning a living, pointing to ventures such as selling akara, roasted corn and kuli kuli as affordable options that require little startup capital.
Responding to a press interview, the First Lady said the government remains committed to helping citizens through grants and other support initiatives aimed at improving their economic wellbeing.

Oluremi Tinubu maintained that the administration has continued to provide assistance within the limits of available resources, stressing that several intervention programmes have also been driven through her office.
“We are trying to give hope. To start akara business does not take a lot of money. To start roasting corn and kuli kuli does not take much. We did not give them a loan, we gave them a grant. We have encouraged Nigerians as best as we could.”
“What is within our hands, I have given and I keep giving. Those are the things we have done,” she said, referring to initiatives spanning the health, agriculture, education and social investment sectors.
