Actress, Stephanie Coker Aderinokun has expressed frustration over the high charges imposed by Lagos housing agents on potential clients

In a fresh Instastory post, she shared her experience with an agent who demanded a N20,000 non-negotiable viewing fee.
She also highlighted that some agencies charge a 20% agency fee, which she believes is excessive.
Coker Aderinokun is calling on the Lagos State government to intervene and regulate the industry.
She argues that the lack of regulation allows housing agents to set their own rules, which can be unfair to prospective tenants.
She specifically questioned the logic behind viewing charges, suggesting that it should be part of the agency’s operational costs.
She wrote: “Lagos State needs to regulate housing agents. What exactly is this 20k viewing charge about? One even said the agency fee is 20%. They just wake up and make their own rules, knowing there’s no regulation, so they can do as they please. It’s very unfair to prospective tenants.”
“The non negotiable just made me weak. Viewing should be part of the agencies operational cost.”
