VeryDarkMan (VDM), has spoken out following his release from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), days after his arrest over alleged money laundering

In a video shared after regaining his freedom, Otse revealed that the EFCC still has his mobile phone and alleged that the agency might never return it. He further claimed the commission logged him out of his iCloud account, granting them full access to private videos and sensitive data.
“My phone is currently with the EFCC, but I bought another one after I was released,” he said. “When I tried to log into my iCloud account, I realised I could no longer access it.”
Otse issued a stern warning to the EFCC, urging the agency not to misrepresent his image or associate it with criminal activity.
“EFCC, I want us to start a friendship, but what could ruin that friendship is if you post the picture you took of me and label it as money laundering,” he said. “If I see my picture on your website with that caption, you’ll have to prove it in court. That’s where our issue will begin—and it might even become the first open court case of its kind.”
While maintaining that he has nothing to hide, the influencer stressed that he would not tolerate any false narrative.
“If you truly want peace, remove any association of that image with money laundering, because that’s a lie,” he said. “I don’t even mind you uploading the picture. In fact, I want to use your placard as my profile photo.”
Otse also expressed concern that the phone may never be returned intact, citing the potential exposure of personal material.
“They didn’t just seize my phone—they logged me out of my iCloud account,” he said. “That means they now have access to everything on it. Even if they return it, that phone is as good as gone.”
VDM was arrested on Friday, May 2, in Abuja, a move that drew widespread backlash and triggered protests demanding his release.
