Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, the newly sworn-in Minister of Power, has assured Nigerians that the Federal Government will address the challenges confronting the power sector and deliver sustained improvements in electricity supply across the country
Addressing reporters after taking his oath of office at the State House in Abuja, yesterday, Tegbe said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration fully understands the difficulties facing the sector and is committed to resolving them.
“Nigerians should please bear with us. The President understands the challenges. We are addressing those challenges, and we will make sure we fix them in generation, transmission, and distribution.
“There are a couple of challenges. The sector has its peculiarities, and we are going to fix these peculiarities.
“I said it during my Senate confirmation that I am not promising a magic wand. I am not promising a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week power supply. We will get there ultimately,” he said.
Tegbe assured fellow citizens that they would begin to see visible improvements in power supply, adding that feedback from across the country already indicated better electricity service in recent weeks.
The minister attributed the improvements to President Tinubu’s commitment to the sector as well as the dedication of personnel in the Ministry of Power and its agencies.
