Davido couldn’t hide his pride in a recent interview when the conversation turned to his daughter Hailey’s impressive fluency in French
When asked if he speaks the language himself, the Afrobeats star replied, “A little bit. But you know, my daughter — her mom is from Togo and Senegal — so my daughter speaks French fluently. I said, I’ll pull,” he joked, clearly amazed by her grasp of the language.
The interviewer laughed and encouraged him to catch up, saying, “Dave, oh okay. So you got to learn. Yeah, you got to learn.” Davido nodded in agreement: “Yeah, I got to learn that.”
The discussion then shifted to French-speaking Africa’s music scene. When asked if he’s familiar with it, Davido lit up: “The singers? Of course — like Fally and them!” referring to popular Congolese artist Fally Ipupa and others in the Francophone music space.
