Gospel singer, Adeyinka Alaseyori, has issued a public apology following backlash over her comments and prayer video concerning the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.
The singer had earlier appeared in a video where she urged Nigerians to pray for the safety and release of the abducted victims, while also speaking on the need for spiritual intervention and national unity.
However, some Nigerians described her remarks as insensitive and argued that the situation required more practical action beyond prayer.

Amid the controversy, Alaseyori clarified that her statement had been misunderstood due to the circulation of a shortened and edited version of her original video.
She explained that the full recording was a 1-hour 30-minute prayer session covering kidnapped children, grieving families, government officials, security agencies, and the nation at large, and not a targeted or dismissive comment as portrayed online.
She said:
“Two days ago, I released a 1hr 30min video praying for k!dn@pp£d children, grleving families, government officials, the military, and our nation, Nigeria.
Yesterday, I woke up to see that some well-meaning Nigerians felt offended, unseen, and unheard because of how the video was edited. The version that circulated was cut down from the original 1hr 30min recording.
Mothers, please forgive me. I beg you in the name of Jesus. I would never intentionally make anyone feel unseen or insens!t! ve. May you never use your hands to bvry your children. All mothers will eat the fruit of their labor.
If my words offended you, please forgive me. God bless you.”
