The Presidency has responded to the demands of nationwide protesters through an infographic shared by presidential aide Bayo Onanuga on Twitter.

On Monday, the Presidency explained why the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, cannot be released and why the minimum wage cannot be increased to N250,000.

The protesters also demand the return of a corruption-free fuel subsidy to reduce hunger and poverty. The Presidency replied that ongoing reforms in the petroleum sector and subsidy system cannot be reversed until the system is free of corruption. It emphasized that these reforms are systemic and require more than just a proclamation.

Protesters are also calling for the restructuring of Nigeria to accommodate diversity, control resources, decentralize power, and promote regional development. Onanuga responded that such restructuring requires constitutional amendments and cannot be done by presidential decree.

Another demand is to investigate and recover stolen funds from past and present leaders, to use for education, healthcare, and infrastructure. The Presidency stated that agencies like the EFCC and ICPC are actively working on this, citing ongoing trials and investigations, including the former CBN Governor and the Nigeria Air project fraud.

Protesters also want an end to banditry, terrorism, and violent crimes, along with reforms in security agencies to stop human rights violations. Onanuga responded that ending insecurity is a complex issue that requires sustained efforts and collaboration. He noted that the military and security agencies are making daily progress against these challenges.
