Pastor Odumeje has shared a message that speaks directly to how people handle their personal struggles, especially in the age of social media where almost everything ends up online.
In his message, he encouraged individuals to learn how to carry themselves with confidence, no matter what they are going through privately. According to him, people should not allow their current challenges to define how they present themselves to the world.
He also touched on the way some individuals carefully stage their emotional experiences just to gain attention online. He noted that there is a growing habit where people intentionally highlight their problems as a way of getting sympathy or engagement from others on social platforms.
The cleric warned that this kind of behaviour can be harmful, as it exposes personal vulnerabilities in ways that may not always be helpful. He stressed that not everything about one’s struggle needs to be shared publicly or turned into content.
Odumeje further advised that people should avoid living in a way that makes their difficulties visible to those who might not wish them well. He suggested that keeping a strong outward appearance, even in difficult moments, can be a form of personal protection.
He said: “I’m sweeter than sugar and saccharine. Never look like what you are passing through, your enemy will be happy. Some people always use their problems to qualify themselves; sometimes when they want to post on social media, they will look for touching-sorrow songs to make a video and post. It’s very wrong. Always be proud of yourself”.
