Nigerian disc jockey and media personality Dorcas Fapson, popularly known as DJ DFP, has publicly accused Paw and Paws Pet Store following the sudden death of her dog, Bailey.
In an emotional statement shared online, the entertainer revealed that she received a heartbreaking phone call in the early hours of the morning informing her that her one-year-old pet had died while under the store’s care.
“3am yesterday, my PA called me crying, telling me my dog, my Bailey baby that I trusted in the care of @pawandpaws_petstore, is dead. A happy, healthy 1-year-old dog gone just like that, with no explanation.”
Fapson questioned the circumstances surrounding Bailey’s death, saying the autopsy raised more concerns than answers.
“The autopsy said there was blood in her throat, so what really happened to her? How does a healthy dog die in a place that’s supposed to protect and care for animals??”.
She also alleged that there was no surveillance footage available from the facility.
“No cameras. No footage. No accountability.”
According to the DJ, the loss has been devastating, especially as Bailey had just celebrated a birthday days earlier.
“Her birthday was just 4 days ago.
I still can’t process that she’s gone.”
Fapson further criticized the pet store owner for allegedly offering her N500,000 after the incident, describing the gesture as insensitive.
“To add insult to injury, the owner dared to offer me 500k naira as a ‘gesture’ when I’ve spent more than that trusting you with her care.
No amount of money will ever replace her.
You took away a piece of me, and I will never forgive you.”
She ended her message by calling on the public to join her in demanding accountability from the business.
“Please help me demand answers.
Ask @pawandpaws_petstore what really happened to my dog?
You owe me and EVERY pet owner trusting them with the truth.”
