Speaking in a video broadcast by Symfoni on Tuesday, Abure strongly denied receiving funds for personal use from any candidate, including Obi. He warned that if further provoked, he would expose internal party figures, claiming they would “reek like rotten eggs.”

“I want to challenge all of them,” Abure said during an address to party members in the Federal Capital Territory. “I saw some of them on television talking about corruption. Let any of them, from Peter Obi down, come forward and publicly declare what they personally gave to me or the party. Who brought the money? Who received it? Where was it sent? I challenge them to say it—boldly—with or without evidence. Otherwise, let them remain silent forever.”

Abure revealed plans to hold a world press conference to address the growing allegations and internal rifts plaguing the party. He explained that his silence up till now was out of a desire to preserve unity.

“As a leader, I kept quiet, thinking they were making mistakes and would eventually come around,” he said. “When issues about election agents and funds came up, I said nothing because I believed I should accept the good, the bad, and the ugly within our fold. But now that some have crossed the line, I have no choice. If provoked again, I’ll reveal everything. When I speak, they will stink like rotten eggs.”

Abure also took aim at Abia State Governor Alex Otti, the party’s only elected governor, accusing him of offering no financial contribution to the party during the elections.

“That governor who is jumping like a cricket from one point to another—we did not collect a dime from him,” Abure said. “If he gave money to anyone, let him come forward and say so. When we met at Transcorp, he asked me, ‘Chairman, what do I do for you?’ I told him, ‘Nothing. Use your money for your campaign.’”

He insisted that the party’s leadership received no financial support from Otti or most other elected representatives, except in a few rare cases. Abure also denied all corruption allegations, stating that the leadership rejected billions in bribes and withstood heavy political pressure throughout the 2023 election period.

“We rejected offers despite the influence of those who made them,” he said. “But today, those same individuals are leading the campaign to remove us.”

Since the 2023 general elections, the Labour Party has been grappling with internal disputes, leadership challenges, and questions surrounding transparency and financial accountability.
