Nigeria’s D’Tigers produced a stunning display at the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket on Friday, crushing Tunisia 87–66 in a commanding Group B showdown
The win sent a strong message from the 2015 champions as they chase a second continental title. Led by Houston Rockets guard Josh Okogie, who scored an incredible 33 points in just 24 minutes, Nigeria dominated from start to finish at the Pavilhão Multiusos de Luanda in Angola.

D’Tigers opened with a blistering 10–0 run and finished the first quarter ahead 29–16. By halftime, they led 48–33, stretching the margin to 68–47 after three quarters before sealing the 21-point victory.
Nigeria’s roster featured Ike Nwamu, Caleb Agada, Talib Zanna, Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu, and Okogie, who dictated the pace throughout the game. The result follows their earlier 77–59 win over Madagascar, placing them firmly on top of Group B.
Their next test comes Sunday against Cameroon in a clash that will decide knockout-stage seeding.
D’Tigers, who last won the AfroBasket a decade ago and have finished as runners-up three times, will look to draw inspiration from D’Tigress, who recently captured a historic fifth consecutive Women’s AfroBasket crown.
