Haitian music icon Fabrice Rouzier filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, accusing Burna Boy and French-Haitian singer Joe Dwet File of stealing parts of his 2002 song Je Vais for their track 4 Kampe II, which dropped on March 28, 2025.

According to court documents, Rouzier claims that the original version of 4 Kampe, released by Joe Dwet File in late 2024, already infringed on his work. He said he issued a cease and desist letter at the time, and alleges that Joe Dwet File admitted to the violation. However, instead of pulling the song, the artist went on to release a remix featuring Burna Boy — a move Rouzier argues only deepened the infringement.

Rouzier says the remix continued to replicate key components of Je Vais, including its composition, lyrics, and even visual elements used in the music video.

He is now demanding both compensatory and exemplary damages, as well as reimbursement for legal costs. Rouzier is also asking the court to permanently ban the use of his work and to order the destruction of all existing copies of the infringing material. Additionally, he wants a legal injunction preventing the use of his name, image, and likeness in relation to the song.
