Fast-rising singer Fido has cautioned his followers about the alleged deceptive practices of some marketing companies, accusing them of manipulating artists into believing they owe their success to these firms

In a post on X, Fido claimed that such companies make artists feel indebted, even though the artists are the real source of revenue. He urged musicians to recognize their worth, warning that once an artist becomes self-sufficient, these companies allegedly turn against them and attempt to damage their reputation.
“Marketing company go make you feel like na them Dey help your life, whereas na you Dey make money for them… The day you show to them you know what you’re doing, they turn your enemies, and they paint you bad out there. #shineyoureyes,” he wrote.
In a follow-up statement, Fido acknowledged the importance of marketing in the music industry but accused some firms of using exploitative tactics. He alleged that a marketing company was trying to control him as if he were signed to them and claimed they were taking 70% of his show earnings while leaving him with only 30%.
“Marketing is very important in the music business… but which one is, marketing company trying to control me like they signed me, steal from me… Who does that?” he wrote.
Fido also accused these companies of preventing him from accessing the backend details of his music revenue, raising concerns about transparency in the industry.
