Nigeria’s inflation rose to 15.15 percent in December 2025, up from 14.45 percent in November, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has reported
The latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) data released on Thursday showed a month-to-month increase of 0.7 percent.

Food inflation, however, fell during the period, declining by 1.49 percent to 10.84 percent in December from 11.08 percent in November. Year-on-year, food prices eased compared to 39.84 percent in December 2024.
“The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose to 131.2 in December 2025, up by 0.7 points from the previous month (130.5),” the NBS report stated.
It added that the December 2025 headline inflation rate of 15.15 percent was lower than the November rate of 17.33 percent, and 19.65 percent below the December 2024 figure of 34.80 percent.
“This shows that the headline inflation rate on a year-on-year basis decreased in December 2025 compared to the same month in the previous year, although the base year is different (November 2009 = 100),” the report explained.
The release comes amid earlier forecasts suggesting inflation would rise in December.
