Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the military to launch heavy strikes on the Gaza Strip, accusing Hamas of violating the US-brokered ceasefire
According to a statement from the prime minister’s office, Netanyahu gave the order “following security consultations,” directing the military to “immediately carry out powerful strikes in the Gaza Strip.” The statement did not provide further details.

Moments later, Hamas announced it would delay handing over the remains of another hostage, citing what it described as Israel’s “violations” of the truce. The group warned that any Israeli escalation would obstruct ongoing efforts to locate and recover hostage bodies.
“We will postpone the handover that was scheduled for today due to the occupation’s violations,” Hamas’s armed wing stated. “Any escalation will hinder the search, excavation, and recovery of the bodies.”
The tension erupted after Hamas on Monday delivered what it said was the 16th of 28 hostage bodies agreed to be returned under the October 10 ceasefire deal. However, Israeli forensic tests revealed that the remains were only partial fragments belonging to Ofir Tzarfati, a hostage whose body had already been recovered from Gaza nearly two years ago.
Netanyahu’s office condemned the act as a “clear violation of the agreement,” accusing Hamas of deceiving both Israel and international mediators.
Israeli government spokeswoman Shosh Bedrosian alleged that Hamas staged the return, claiming the group buried Tzarfati’s remains anew before handing them to the Red Cross. “In terms of consequences for Hamas, nothing is off the table right now,” she said, adding that all decisions were being coordinated with US President Donald Trump and his team.
Meanwhile, the Hostages and Missing Families Forum called on the Israeli government to respond firmly, urging action over what it described as Hamas’s deliberate breach of the truce.
“In light of Hamas’s severe violation of the agreement, the Israeli government cannot and must not ignore this,” the group said. “It must act decisively against these violations.”
