Kiki Shepard, the legendary American TV personality best known as the longtime co-host of “Showtime at the Apollo,” has sadly passed away at 74.

According TMZ, LaShirl Smith, Shepard died in Los Angeles on Monday after suffering a sudden and massive heart attack. Smith described the loss as completely unexpected.

For many fans, Kiki Shepard was a familiar and beloved face. She spent years co-hosting “Showtime at the Apollo” from 1987 to 2002, where she worked alongside Steve Harvey.

During that time, she helped introduce countless up-and-coming performers on the iconic Harlem stage, becoming an essential part of the show’s legacy.

Beyond her time at the Apollo, Shepard built an impressive career in television.

She appeared in a wide range of popular shows, including “A Different World,” “Baywatch,” “Baywatch Nights,” “NYPD Blue,” “Everybody Hates Chris,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “Mind Your Business.” She also took on a role in the film “Blackjack Christmas.”

Later in her career, she expanded into theater, making a name for herself on Broadway.

She performed in productions such as “Bubbling Brown Sugar,” “Reggae,” “Your Arms Too Short to Box With God,” and “Porgy and Bess.”

Her contributions to television and theater left a lasting impact, and she will be remembered by fans and colleagues alike.
