Badenoch recently described her experience at the Nigerian boarding school as “a prison,” citing harsh conditions such as having to cut grass and clean toilets without running water. Her comments sparked criticism from many Nigerians online, who accused her of exaggerating or disrespecting her roots.

Reacting in a series of posts on X, KlintonCod questioned the outrage, arguing that Badenoch’s description mirrors the reality of many Nigerian boarding schools.

“She said her boarding school in Sagamu was like a prison and everyone is angry. See, I’ve told so many people stories from my boarding school (boys only), and facts is, it was like a prison too,” he wrote. “The only difference between us and prisoners was the fact that we had mid-term breaks and holidays—every other thing was the same!”

He added that UK prisons he had visited for work purposes appeared to offer a better quality of life than what he experienced in boarding school.

The comedian went further, describing the violence and intimidation that occurred in some Nigerian schools.
“In my boarding school, students used axes and machetes during fights. People hid weapons, joined cults, fought at night. Seniors flogged juniors with cutlasses, and your provisions were technically owned by seniors waiting for your parents to leave.”

According to him, Badenoch’s experience was even mild compared to what many students endured in boys’ boarding schools.

“If an average British-born student experienced what we did, they’d need a lifetime of therapy,” he said. “Kemi even described a moderate boarding school to me sef. Boys’ boarding school crazy o.”

KlintonCod also questioned the basis of the public’s disdain for Badenoch.

“I am yet to find one solid and justifiable reason why Nigerians dislike Kemi Badenoch,” he wrote. “The only one I’ve seen so far is: she’s too honest, and her honesty reflects badly on Nigeria, so they hate her for it.”

He concluded by urging Nigerians to accept the truth—even when it comes from someone they may not like.
