The Kogi State Police Command has urged Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan to cancel her planned Sallah rally in the state’s Central Senatorial District

State Commissioner of Police Miller Dantawaye made this known on Tuesday in a statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer ASP William Aya.
According to the statement, the rally violates the Kogi State Government’s ban on political gatherings, which was issued on Monday due to security concerns.
“Following intelligence reports on security threats in Kogi State and the subsequent ban on all forms of rallies and processions by the state government, the Nigeria Police Force, Kogi State Command, has called on the organizers of the planned rally in Okene to cancel the event in the interest of peace,” the statement read.
It further warned that intelligence reports suggest hoodlums may hijack the rally, leading to a possible breakdown of law and order. The police emphasized their commitment to maintaining the state’s current peace and vowed to take legal action against anyone who disrupts public order.
Despite the government’s ban, Akpoti-Uduaghan has insisted on proceeding with what she calls her “homecoming,” stating that she is merely returning to the state to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr with her constituents.
