Gospel musician Mercy Chinwo on Saturday broke her silence regarding the ongoing dispute with her former manager, Ezekiel ThankGod, aka Eezeetee

The singer posted a statement on Instagram, signed by her lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi.
The statement clarified that, contrary to sensational claims, Minister Mercy did not initiate any court action against Eezeetee concerning her music catalog. It emphasized that she had never claimed that a 50/50 revenue split from her DSP earnings was unfair.
Mercy shared details of her relationship with Eezeetee, explaining that it began when she was his backup singer in Port Harcourt. In 2017, they signed a contract, and her song “Excess Love,” which was released that same year, became a major success.
She continued by saying that it became necessary to relocate to Lagos in 2018. The entire team made the move, and Mercy played a role in helping singer Judikay join the organization in early 2019.
Mercy revealed that things began to change by the end of 2019 and worsened in 2020. She explained that her contract expired in 2022, and she accused Eezeetee of fraudulently obtaining a new contract in 2019. This contract was made to appear as if it were the same one she had signed in 2017. The new contract, a 25-page document, granted Eezeetee lifetime ownership of all her music works, and Mercy claimed it was designed to keep her in servitude indefinitely.
Mercy explained that there had been several attempts at reconciliation, including one led by Apostle Anselm Madubuko, but none of these efforts were successful.
In 2024, during an EFCC investigation, Mercy revealed that Eezeetee admitted to withholding $274,000 in revenue from digital platforms. The money was peacefully recovered. She added that during the investigation, Eezeetee also admitted, for the first time, to attempting to manipulate her with a different contract.
Mercy further stated that Eezeetee pleaded tearfully for the matter to be resolved amicably. However, he later filed separate lawsuits against Mercy, Judikay, and the EFCC. In response, the EFCC charged him with fraud, issuing a warrant for his arrest. This warrant was eventually withdrawn after his lawyer intervened.
