Celebrated Nigerian filmmaker, playwright, and music producer Obafemi “Femi” Lasode has passed away at the age of 69

His d3ath occurred in the early hours of Friday, July 25, following a long illness. The news was confirmed by flutist and former PMAN president, Tee Mac Omatshola, who shared a condolence message upon being informed by a family member.
Lasode gained widespread acclaim for directing the iconic 1997 film Sango, which later opened the Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Film Festival in 2002. He was also the founder of Afrika ’n Vogue/Even-Ezra Studios, a trailblazing media company established in the 1990s.
Born in Port Harcourt and originally from Ogun State, Lasode was not only a creative force in film and music but also a songwriter and social critic. He held a degree in Business Administration and a master’s in Communication Arts from Brooklyn College, City University of New York.
