Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been drawn to face Gabon in the CAF World Cup qualifying playoff, slated for November 13–16 in Morocco
Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions will take on the Democratic Republic of Congo in the other playoff fixture.

The winners of both encounters will clash in a decisive final in Morocco, with the victor earning a spot in the Six-Team Intercontinental Playoff scheduled for March next year in Guadalajara and Monterrey, Mexico.
Two teams from that playoff will ultimately qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
The Super Eagles, under coach Eric Chelle, booked their playoff ticket after hammering Benin 4-0 in Uyo on Tuesday. They finished second in Group C behind South Africa, both tied on 17 points, but Nigeria edged Benin on goal difference.
Following CAF’s recalibrated ranking system for second-placed teams—introduced after Eritrea’s withdrawal—Nigeria advanced with 15 points and a +7 goal difference, narrowly surpassing Burkina Faso, who had 15 points and +6.
The winner of the African playoff will join Bolivia, New Caledonia, two Central American sides, and one Asian representative in the Intercontinental Playoff.
