The Ogun State Government has said investigations into the alleged ra.pe of Miss Nsikak Abigael Emem, popularly known as Mirabel, showed that the claim was false and deliberately fabricated.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade (SAN), who said findings by relevant authorities, including admissions reportedly made by Mirabel, established that no rape incident occurred.

“The investigations by relevant authorities, as well as Mirabel’s own admissions, established that the rape allegation was false and deliberately fabricated,” the statement said.
According to the ministry, because no offence was committed, there was no suspect to arrest or prosecute, despite the public attention generated by the allegation.
The government, however, said it would not prosecute Mirabel over the false claim. Instead, it opted for rehabilitation after reviewing the circumstances surrounding the case.
“Following a comprehensive review of the circumstances, the Ministry concluded that the interest of justice would be better served through psycho-social rehabilitation rather than prosecution,” the statement added.
The Ogun State Government further disclosed that Mirabel is currently receiving care and rehabilitative support under the supervision of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
Ogungbade said the Ministry of Justice has continued to monitor her progress through periodic reports, which show that she is responding positively to rehabilitation and preparing for examinations to further her education.
