Human rights activist and AAC presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has been released from the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja after meeting the bail conditions set by the Federal High Court.
His release came hours after the court granted him bail in the sum of ₦200 million in the ongoing cybercrime case filed against him.
Addressing supporters shortly after leaving the correctional facility, Sowore insisted that his time in detention had not shaken his resolve. Instead, he said the experience had further strengthened his commitment to what he described as the fight for justice.
“Leaving Kuje Prison after being unjustly incarcerated by the failed traitor to the Nigerian people, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his regime.
Prison has never broken the resolve of those who fight for justice. If anything, it only strengthens our determination.
The struggle continues. We will never surrender. #RevolutionNow #Sowore2027”, he stated.
Sowore was remanded in Kuje Correctional Centre after a Federal High Court ordered his detention pending the hearing of his bail application. The court later granted him fresh bail in the sum of ₦200 million, with two sureties, and directed him to surrender his international passport while the case continues.
The activist is being prosecuted over allegations of cybercrime and defamation arising from comments he made about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He has consistently denied any wrongdoing, maintaining that the charges are politically motivated.
