Popular Music executive Teebillz has entered the ongoing debate surrounding the 2026 Grammy Awards, arguing that Nigerian presence dominated the weekend festivities in Los Angeles trophies or not.
Reacting to conversations online, Teebillz emphasized that Nigerians played a major role in fueling economic activity throughout Grammy weekend. From high-end hotels and restaurants to luxury transportation, private jet services, fashion styling, beauty teams, car rentals, and retail spending, he said Nigerian creatives and executives were everywhere.
He further addressed complaints about award outcomes, reminding critics that the Grammys are controlled by a private body and not decided by public opinion.
“The Grammys are run by a private organisation, not fans, and awards are not based on streams, popularity, or social media noise,” he explained.
Sharing his perspective on how winners are selected, Teebillz added, “A Grammy win simply means a group of people decided a work deserved it.”
He concluded by noting that there’s room for both praise and pushback in the conversation, stressing that celebrating Nigerian excellence and questioning award decisions don’t have to cancel each other out.
