A new reaction has emerged in the ongoing public disagreement involving Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti and social media activist VeryDarkMan, as VDM’s brother has now responded to Seun Kuti’s recent comments.
In a statement addressing Seun Kuti’s post, he expressed disappointment over what he described as a misinterpretation of his earlier message and insisted that his intention was not to attack the musician.
He said:
“I saw the post Seun Kuti made and I was disappointed. The post I made wasn’t to attack him. You were supposed to call Sowore and VeryDarkMan to order but you picked a side. You people are fake friends.”
The reaction adds to the ongoing exchange, which has drawn in several individuals and supporters in recent days.
The disagreement traces back to a wider online controversy involving VeryDarkMan and businessman Blord, which initially started as a dispute over allegations and counter-allegations tied to their dealings.
As the situation developed, activist Omoyele Sowore also became involved through public commentary, which expanded the conversation beyond the original parties.
Seun Kuti later entered the discussion, responding from the perspective of his long-standing views on activism and public responsibility. His remarks, which referenced his father Fela Kuti’s legacy, sparked reactions from different sides of the conversation, including supporters of VeryDarkMan.
In response to Seun Kuti’s statement, VDM’s brother has now spoken out, claiming that the musician should have taken a more neutral role and intervened by cautioning all parties involved rather than appearing to take sides.
The situation continues to evolve, with different voices contributing to a growing debate around activism, influence, and public accountability within Nigeria’s online and entertainment space.
