“You shouldn’t have apologized” —DeeOne tells Yinka Alaseyori

Comedian DeeOne has said to gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori that she should not apologize again for comments she believes were inspired by God, following her recent apology over remarks on insecurity and the government’s response to it.

In a lengthy reaction, DeeOne began by appreciating the singer and acknowledging the impact of her ministry, but expressed disappointment over her decision to publicly apologize.

“Mrs. Yinka Alaseyori, first of all, I want to thank you and thank God for your ministry. God has used you greatly,” he said.

According to him, Alaseyori’s initial remarks were inspired and carried a spiritual message, but he believes her apology undermined what she originally stood for.

“You were in the Spirit when you said those things and asked people to pray. I want to believe it was God speaking through you, but you lost an opportunity to evangelize to the world,” he stated.

DeeOne further suggested that external criticism may have influenced the singer’s decision to issue the apology, insisting that she did not seek divine direction before making the video.

“I can bet 100% that you did not seek God’s face before making that apology video. I believe pressure made you do it. You apologized because people were criticizing you,” he said.

He also speculated that concerns about public acceptance and future invitations may have played a role in her decision, while reminding her that her dependence should remain on God rather than public opinion.

“Maybe you were worried that you would no longer be invited to events or that people would stop liking you. But the Bible says, ‘I will lift up my eyes to the hills from where comes my help?’”

Maintaining that her original comments were not wrong, DeeOne argued that yielding to public pressure could have spiritual consequences.

“Was what you said wrong? No. But pressure made you apologize. You chose to displease God in order to please men, and there could be spiritual repercussions. I hope you understand that.”

He concluded by advising the gospel singer not to make a similar move in the future and questioned the counsel she received before releasing the apology.

“Please, under no circumstances should you do that again. I don’t know who advised you, but whoever did gave you poor advice. I’m sure the hosts of heaven would be disappointed, but God is a forgiving Father.”

Drawing a comparison with fellow gospel minister Testimony Jaga, DeeOne praised his boldness in expressing his faith, saying such conviction reminds him of the early disciples.

“I’m not trying to praise anyone here, but people like Testimony Jaga remind some of us of how the disciples followed Jesus. Jesus was not gentle; He was rugged.”
