Actor-turned-preacher Yul Edochie has addressed rumors linking him to Henry Odenigbo, a movie producer recently identified as a member of a kidnapping gang killed in a police shootout in Lagos.
The controversy began when filmmaker Stanley Nwoko, also known as Stanley Ontop, shared photos of Odenigbo, claiming he was the “ringleader” of the gang. Lagos State Police PRO Benjamin Hundeyin had earlier announced that the gang was planning to kidnap wealthy individuals in the state.
A photo of Edochie with Odenigbo began circulating on social media, leading to speculation about their relationship. Edochie took to Instagram to clarify the situation, stating emphatically that Odenigbo was not his friend.
Edochie explained that the photo was taken in June on a movie set, marking their first and only meeting. He said, “I only saw this guy once when I shot a movie for him a few weeks ago. A director contracted me for a movie and paid me for a job.”
The actor detailed how Odenigbo, who introduced himself as “Ason-Rich Henry,” requested a photo with him after the shoot. Edochie agreed, unaware of Odenigbo’s alleged criminal activities.
“That was the first time I saw him, and I never saw him again. That’s the picture a lot of people are circulating,” Edochie clarified, expressing his confusion over why the photo was being widely shared.
