The Presiding Pastor of Salvation Ministries, David Ibiyeomie, has urged Nigerians to resist vote buying and make informed choices during future elections.
Speaking during the church service on Sunday, the cleric cautioned citizens against exchanging their votes for financial rewards, stressing that such benefits are short lived compared to the years of governance that follow.
“If any of you collect money to go and vote, and are saying it’s money I will chop? The money you get before is only for one week. What are the rest of the four years? Never sell your conscience for money.”
He encouraged voters to assess candidates based on their ability to perform rather than the political platforms they represent.
“Don’t vote party, vote who can deliver.”
Ibiyeomie also urged Nigerians to resist injustice and remain committed to speaking the truth, saying collective action remains a powerful force in society.
“When masses say no, nobody stands. Don’t pray for a man who cannot deliver. Pray for somebody who has conscience.”
Ibiyeomie said Nigerians have the power to bring about change when they stand together against injustice and poor leadership, stressing that no individual or group can prevail when the people collectively reject wrongdoing.
He also urged citizens and religious leaders to support and pray for leaders who possess integrity, competence and a genuine commitment to serving the public, rather than backing individuals who lack the capacity to govern effectively.
