The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) will on Thursday, May 15, hold a high-level review meeting with vice chancellors and other stakeholders to assess the conduct and outcome of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), following widespread concerns over mass failure

Out of the over 1.9 million candidates who sat for the exam, more than 1.5 million reportedly scored below 200 out of a possible 400, sparking nationwide criticism and allegations of technical issues during the exam process.
In response, JAMB has set up a panel that includes vice chancellors, IT professionals from the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria, chief external examiners, and independent assessment experts. The panel will thoroughly examine all phases of the examination—from registration to the release of results—and determine whether technical glitches or other irregularities may have impacted candidates’ performance.
JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, said the board is committed to transparency and fairness, adding that if any issues are discovered, necessary remedies will be provided for affected candidates.
The outcome of Thursday’s review is expected to restore public confidence in the UTME and reinforce the credibility of Nigeria’s tertiary education admission process.
