The Supreme Court of Nigeria has reserved judgment in an appeal filed by former Senate President David Mark over the ongoing leadership crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC)
A five-member panel led by Justice Mohammed Garba fixed the matter for judgment after all parties involved adopted their final written addresses. The date for the ruling will be communicated later to the parties.

Mark, who leads one of the factions contesting control of the party, is challenging a March 12 decision of the Court of Appeal that directed all sides to maintain the status quo pending the resolution of the dispute.
In his appeal, the former Senate President is arguing that the appellate court lacked the jurisdiction to intervene, insisting that the matter is purely an internal party affair that should not be decided by the courts.
The case was originally filed by a group of aggrieved members led by Nafiu Bala Gombe, who are contesting the legitimacy of Mark’s factional leadership.
Other respondents in the suit include the African Democratic Congress (ADC), its National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and former party chairman Ralph Nwosu.
Mark is also seeking an order restraining INEC from recognising any leadership structure other than his faction until the final determination of the appeal.
