Hilda Baci, Nigeria’s celebrated chef, is gearing up for another historic culinary challenge — cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice
Announcing the project on Instagram Friday, Baci revealed that the dish will be prepared in an enormous pot measuring six meters wide and six meters tall.

She disclosed that the idea had been in development for two years and described the upcoming event as not just a cooking spectacle, but a cultural festival spotlighting Nigerian cuisine, music, and community spirit.
The cook-off is scheduled to take place on September 12, 2025, at Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island, Lagos.
“In 2023, the Hilda Baci cookathon took the world by storm. This year, it’s Jollof — the heartbeat of West Africa,” she wrote, adding that the event would be “a celebration of our food, our culture, our music, and us.”
The project is being executed in partnership with Gino, a popular household food brand. “Two years ago, I dreamed of creating the largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice ever seen. Now, that dream is becoming a reality,” Baci added.
Baci rose to global prominence in May 2023 after setting a Guinness World Record for the longest individual cooking marathon — a record later overtaken by Irish chef Alan Fisher in November that year.
